@Jim: I just read about your poster over on FPO and, linking back here, have now read about Jessica’s similar issues. I also just had some fun issues with 2-color registration for my business cards. The top part of the plate would register but not the bottom. I had to cut the bottom off and run it as a 3rd pass to get it to work. I used Crane’s Crest Kid Finish, which I think is also 100% cotton. That and the Vandercook are likely the culprits. The pure cotton paper probably stretches a bit under the pressure of the cylinder. A platen probably wouldn’t have this problem.

Anyway, love both your poster and Jessica’s.

I just letterpressed a poster on Crane’s Lettra and had the same problem with my register (and arrived at a similar solution: cutting apart the plates). Anyway, great poster, beautiful design, outstanding work.

so gorgeous! any way that you could make a giclee print of this? the letterpress is amazing, but a little out of my budget and this would look so perfect in my living room : )
