If you that love the Daily Drop Cap and also love letterpress, these are a must have. I hand printed these two color letterpress posters at The Arm in Williamsburg and it was The Most Painstaking Registration Process Ever. I actually ended up destroying my plates while trying to make it perfect, which means that this small first edition of 75 will also be the last edition. The prints are available trimmed or untrimmed from my store (I recommend trimmed for mount framing and untrimmed for matte framing). They are printed on Crane’s 110lb Lettra and each is signed and numbered with the note “First and only edition”.

How did you destroy the plates? Please share! We need a good cautionary tale!

This is incredible. I love how they look all together, in just two colors. Amazing registration, too.

Ha! You’re writing style is hilarious… I can totally imagine the registration nightmare as well! Lovely print.

Jessica says:
They’re not quite “destroyed” but what ended up happening is that I printed the first color, and then when I was registering the second color, parts of the print wouldn’t register in a really nonsensical way, like the top of the print would be too high but the bottom would be too low (I believe the paper or the plates had stretched somehow). I ended up having to cut apart the second plate and reposition the parts individually (would register one thing, add a new part register that part, add a new part). I drew all over the plates to align with the grid below and cut off small parts of the plate that were effing with the registration. Overall it would be just too painful to reprint, so I’m going to recycle the plates.

Eric Mersmann says:
oh that sounds harrowing.
I’ll think of that story and gain +4 anxiety every time I get ready to print a second color.

So gorgeous… I wish I could afford to buy one! Your work is simply stunning and I am a huge fan. HUGE.
(I love your work and I don’t mean to sound nitpicky AT ALL, but I wanted to let you know that the pull-down menu for this item in your store has two options that say “TRIMMED” when your description offers both trimmed and untrimmed version. Clearly, the text following that in parentheses clears up the difference, but ya know… some peeps be notsosmart and they’ll probably email you all “I WANT UNTRIMMED BUT BOTH OPTIONS SAY TRIMMED!!!!” with their panties in a twist… so I just thought I’d let ya know
